Rachel Fernandez is Research Data Reproducibility Librarian within the Open Science and Scholarly Communication Division of ASU Library. Previously, Rachel worked as the Digital Preservation Program Manager at the Center for Digital Antiquity part of the School for Human Evolution and Social Change (SHESC).

As a first-generation college student, Rachel has completed a BA in Classics and Anthropology at the University of Florida, a MA in Classical Archaeology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and most recently, completed a Master's in Library and Information Science at the University of Arizona. Apart from her years in working in archaeological projects across the Mediterranean and managing archaeological data in the U.S., Rachel attributes her love of studying past cultures to her Cuban heritage. Learning from the rich personal stories of her family, Rachel believes in the importance of education and preservation of the diverse cultures of Latinx peoples across the U.S. and globally.

As a strong supporter of CLFSA’s mission to promote policies and issues that affect Latinx peoples at ASU and the greater Phoenix community, Rachel hopes to use her role as President to continue creating programs and events that will continue this important mission.
