Poly Sol Liaison
Rafael A. Martínez is a first generation student and immigrant to the U.S., growing up in South Central L.A. At ASU, he teaches courses on the American Southwest, Arizona History, the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands, and Transborder Chicano Literature.
Rafael’s research focuses on immigration, migration, the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands, and the American Southwest. His forthcoming book with the University of Arizona Press, Illegalized: Undocumented Youth Movements in the United States, analyzes the rise of Undocumented Youth Social Movements in the U.S. and immigrant youth’s contributions to the broader Immigrant Rights Movements.
Rafael has been a member of CLFSA for four years and the Poly Sol liaison for the last two years. Poly Sol is an affiliated organization to CLFSA at the ASU Polytechnic campus composed of Latinx faculty and staff who promote cultural awareness, programming, and advocacy.
