Programing Chair
Christina Hernandez is a first-generation alumna of Arizona State University and a Phoenix native with over 20 years of experience in education, serving students and the community. In addition to ASU, Christina’s professional career includes working with programs at Mesa Community College, the University of California, Berkeley, Texas A&M University, and Northern Arizona University. While at ASU, she helped to open the Downtown Phoenix campus, oversaw success coaching for first-year students, managed a large tutoring program for undergraduate engineering students, and most recently provides leadership support with the America Reads program within the Mary Lou Fulton’s Teachers College. She provides operational management and leadership as the program is expanding to provide additional opportunities for mentoring, tutoring, and coaching to K-8 students through various modalities to best meet the needs of our community.
Christina believes in the power of creating opportunity and engagement and has committed to supporting efforts within the larger community. She has previously volunteered to serve as a Governing Board Member with the Roosevelt School District and has served in multiple leadership and mentoring roles with Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. Currently, she is a Regional Vice President for an international scholarship-granting organization, Sons & Daughters of Nagbukel, supporting students in the Philippines.
