Alexis Garrobo McCann joined ASU in 2023 as a program coordinator for the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. Prior to shifting into higher education, Alexis served as a tenured public school elementary educator in Florida and Illinois for a decade. She specialized in cognitive guidance instruction, trauma-informed education, worked as a faculty representative in district-level curriculum committees throughout her time, and nurtured a curiosity in young learners. She earned her master's in teaching from the University of Southern California, where she was a student ambassador. Alexis earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the Grady College at the University of Georgia, served as the news editor for the Red & Black newspaper, and worked as a local government reporter in the Lowcountry early in her career.

Alexis's Arizona roots run deep in southeastern Arizona - at least four generations on both sides. She, like our borderlands, is a mix of cultures and influences being half Mexican-American and half gringa. Her background and desire to uplift others guides her in working to nurture success among students at any age.
